I have had the mirena iud in for right at 2 1/2 years now. In the beginning my period stopped and then came back after a while. I dont keep track of them, but i know i havent had a period in like 2 months. And I do remember my last period being very light and only lasting for 2-3 days in mid November. Well i had sex last night and today ive had dark red almost brown blood with a stringy sticky brown mucus discharge when i wipe. It has no smell. I have considered pregnancy, because i'm also having some pregnancy symptoms. But negative HPT. Could you please tell me what this may be?

Welcome to ehealthforum.
HPT’s can show false negative results. Since you are having symptoms suggestive of pregnancy and no periods, consider visiting your gynecologist/obstetrician for a thorough examination, blood HCG levels and ultrasound scan to confirm/rule out pregnancy. It is important to look for site of pregnancy and position of IUD. Pregnancies that occur with IUD in place mostly result in ectopic pregnancies. Please do not delay your visit to your gynecologist. It is important to confirm/rule out ectopic pregnancy early to detect and prevent life threatening complications.
Take care.
