Early Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms Answer A9292
Hi,

I can understand your confusion due to the change of events. It is seen that pregnancy only occurs if intercourse occurs within the 6 days prior to and including ovulation. The best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle. So if you had a normal menstrual cycle on the 30th of December, the ovulation should have been around the 11th or the 12th of January considering you had regular periods prior to that. So your fertile period had started on the 8th of January. Any intercourse on the above mentioned dates can result in pregnancy. So chances of pregnancy are high in your case.

For confirming the status of pregnancy by urine for pregnancy test (UPT),the most accurate way to test for pregnancy is to wait until after your period is due. The first appearance of the pregnancy hormone, HCG, due to implantation occurs 6-12 days after ovulation. So if you don’t want to wait for your periods and test for pregnancy then you can test at 9 or 10 days past ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test. The Aimstrip pregnancy test gives good results and can detect 20 mIU of HCG. I sincerely suggest that you do a urine for pregnancy test and if the test comes negative, then please wait for your periods and repeat the test after 1 week of your missed periods date.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For an exact diagnosis, you are advised to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
