I stupidly burnt myself with a steam iron some weeks ago on my tummy. It was pretty bad for about 2 weeks, seems to have healed now. Although the scar is pink based with brown spots? Is this normal?

Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

The burn degree should be ascertained. Is the area painful. Has there been crusting or yellowish fluid oozing out of the affected area. Superimposed infection over the broken skin barrier if there should be prevented. Silver sulfadiazine should be applied. Antiseptic like povidone should be used prior to this. Antibiotic ointment like bactroban (mupirocin) should also be used. If the healing is inadequate or with scarring then a plastic surgeon should be consulted. It would have been helpful if an image of the wound was available.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
