Miscarriage and Stillbirth Answer A9444

Stabbing pain in the first trimester of pregnancy and a history of four miscarriages and no live-born birth is a pretty good cause for an immediate visit to an emergency gynecological service. It might be a starting sign of an incoming miscarriage.

It is also important to know why there were 4 miscarriages before. If the reason was established but not treated then there is a great risk for miscarriage even if there was no sign at all.

The most frequent causes for recurrent miscarriages in the first trimester include: problems with the uterus and cervix (uterine septum, uterine fibroids, and cervical insufficiency), hormonal imbalances and blood clotting problems.

You might want to visit a gynecologist for a physical gynecological examination, hormonal and blood clotting laboratory tests. The treatment would depend on the underlying cause.
