Stabbed finger swollen and red

I stabbed my finger with a meat thermometer and now my finger is swollen red and tingling. I know I need to see a doctor, but I would like to know the severity of what it could be first. I had just finished a Z-pac for a lung infection and Amoxicillin for a tooth infection prior to the Z-pac. Can anyone help shed some light on this for me?

Apply a pressure over the injured finger for at least 10 mins and this should help stop any bleeding.

After proper hemostasis is achieved, the dressing can be changed and if needed further care can be sought from the nearest Emergency room.
