Springtail bugs! How on earth do I get rid of them?

I'm hoping someone can help me. I've had what we thought to be a resistant case of headlice. Been battling it for 4 months! Multiple treatments both OTC and RX meds. Nothing's works. Took a bug to local Extention office and it's not lice..... It's a springtail bug and they are in our hair! Myself and my daughters. I keep a very clean house and I am panicking after reading about this. So far we have only found them in our hair but it sounds like some peoe have them imbedded in their skin??? For real! The Extention office says they are harmless. Sorry but I don't want to just live with bugs in our hair!... How on earth do I get rid of them?
