I was wondering if anybody has been diagnosed with Sphincter of oddi disorder. I'm having a MRCP done on Thursday to check for it but I was curious about the surgery they do to correct it. How long was the recovery etc..

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Sphincter of oddi disorder needs to be examined and evaluated for the accident severity and underlying cause. ERCP is usually therapeutic as well as Diagnostic to find out and treat accordingly on the very same point . Surgery is minimally invasive and the recovery time is roughly a week or two . Avoiding medications like opioids which worsen the spasm of the sphincter and diet Lifestyle modification will help.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
