Speech problems after a gastroscopy and several biopsies

My daughter recently had a gastroscopy and several biopsies taken to test for coeliac disease. She was sedated for the procedure and since a few days afterwards she has had speech difficulties. Any suggestions why this might be? She has difficulty forming her words. She can whisper and sing normally and can also speak normally when she lies down.

The results of the tests were negative, but she still has symptoms of coeliac disease.

Thank you for asking

Celiac disease needs further work up to connect the dots.

As far as the speech difficulty is concerned and phonation issues, they are common after endoscopies and they self resolve.

Gluten free diet is the mainstay of treatment here. Stay in touch with her gastroenterologist for further guidance.

take care
