Some facts about the importance of flossing

Brushing and flossing are both important for your oral health but flossing is even more important than brushing as it removes bacteria, a plaque that cannot be removed by regular brushing. The disadvantage of not flossing is that cavities are more likely to form between your teeth.
People suffering from sensitive or bleeding gums avoid flossing for fear of making their bleeding gums worse, but the fact is that flossing can improve the health of your gums, thereby helping to prevent them from bleeding. Flossing at least once a day is necessary and the best time is right before you go to bed to remove any food and plaque.
If you are having braces, then more care must be provided as during orthodontic treatment more plaque gets collected in between the teeth and appliance. Before doing flossing while in braces, must consult your concerned orthodontist for more information.
