Hi, I hope someone can offer me some insight into my problem. Sorry for some graphic descriptions.

It is to do with digestion and stool. I cant even remember for how long this has been a problem but I think for at least a year if not more but my stool is...hmm how to say sticky and not solid. It is never solid and it is not diarrhea but closer to that than solid.

Other symptoms maybe related: often bad gas, runny nose often (clear not green) and one nostrel is always blocked a lot but it changes from side to side, i feel tired a lot and often wake up de hydrated.

Some basic background on me..

I am a 27 year old male and I am pretty lean.

I exercise 5 times a week on average: cardio, calisthenics, yoga and walking.

My diet is on average

oatmeal, wholemeal bread, fruit, green tea, peppermint tea, rooboos tea, eggs, vegetables, salads, chicken, red meat once a week, fish, rice, brown pasta, dark chocolate, nuts and coconut oil, hemp protein powder and a small amount of cheese and a cup of coffee once or twice a week. I drink quite a lot of water along with teas in the day time. I take a multi vitamin, cod liver oil everyday and vitamin d and e a few times a week.

I have drank lactose free milk for a few months but it has not helped. I used to have a lot of dairy in the UK, full fat milk, yoghurt and cheese and have stopped that with exception to small amount of cheese but it has not made any difference.

I avoid processed sugar and foods and drink a glass of red wine two times a week on average.

Many thanks.

I see. It is most likely something in your diet. however, beyond that all I can say is if this is a concern to you then seeing your doctor will be the best choice as sometimes these things can be related to thyroid and so forth and require some testing. That being said it is very unlikely that anything will be wrong. Also, if you were wondering why I was asking about color fat absorption and gi bleeding are usually the cause of sticky stool and these cause the stool to turn a black/ish color.

Best of luck.

I have just moved to Germany and it will be awhile before I can sort out my medical insurance to see a doctor so was hoping someone online could help.

I thought of thyroid or bacterial problem as I always feel tired a lot and my hair is thinning and very dry.

Had problems similar to yours (plus many movements a day and enough gas to power a small town). Eliminated bread and things got better fast. Some net sites indicate that sticky/smelly can be generated by "mucus" creating foods in gluten and/or dairy categories. Have also read that eating too much of one thing on a regular basis can lead to a food allergy. The more bread I ate the worse things got, where the bread was a healthy type with 5 grams of fiber per slice, so six slices a day put 30 grams of fiber in my system.

Am a competitive trail runner with the exact same symptoms.
I solved the sticky stool problem completely with ZEOLITE. We have a brand in South Africa that sells it, not sure about other countries.
And I can attest to trying virtually everything else, incl. probiotics, homeopathy, psyllium (sometimes worked), base powder (various brands), course of antibiotics (worked for a few weeks) fennel & peppermint tea, paleo diet (difficult to maintain) etc. etc.

Zeolite has been life-changing. (And no, I'm not a brand manager or product promoter etc.)
