I am concerned I may become very sick from sleeping so little. I have been going up to 3 days without more than probably 10 hours of sleep, and this trend has been going on for several months at a time with only very small gaps of time where my sleep improves.

I am kind of worried that I may experience long-term problems from this lack of sleep and yet I cannot for the life of me get in to see a sleep clinic sleep specialist because of the long wait and need for a referral.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. All you need is to sleep. Staying sleep deprived not just create psychological problems but physical output is compromised as well. You should do what you can do best but not at the cost of your sleep. Let your doctor help you in this regard further.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
