Hi
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Conception dates are only an estimation since your ovulation can vary anytime between day 12-16 of the cycle (for a 28 day cycle). Other reasons include : Sperm life being up to three to five days; stress or other lifestyle changes that can change your regular cycles for that month; eggs taking about 12 to 24 hours to be shed from ovary, so the estimated conception date may be off by one day; spotting at implantation can sometimes be mistaken for a last missed period, throwing off conception date by as much as a month.
The ovulation dates also vary based on your menstrual cycle length. For example: If you have a 30 day cycle, you would ovulate about 16 days after the first day of your last period. If you have a 35 day cycle, you would ovulate about 20 days after the first day of your last period. If you have a 24 day cycle, you would ovulate about 10 days after first day of your last period. If you have a 26 day cycle, you would have ovulated about 12 days after the first day of your last period.
Normal pregnancy is of 40 weeks duration or about 280 days (full term), so when you count back from your estimated/expected delivery date, you would reach your probable conception dates.
Take care.
