I have a scar on my right retina I've had since I was 15, now I'm 21. Me and my friend were having a bb gun fight and I got shot in the eye. The bb hit the corner of my right eye, and got stuck in the back of my eye socket. The bb was removed and left a scar on my retina. I have a blind spot in my vision that falls in the middle of my field of vision. With both eyes open the spot is blurred and with just the right open there is no vision in that spot. Sometimes a neon green light passes along the edge of the blind spot. I was wondering if this is bad and if it can cause me problems down the road light a retinal detachment or anything.

My husband had lazer surgery for Macular Degeneration...He, too, found after his surgery that he also had a blind spot where they had to repair the bleeding...However, over the years the brain filled in (however it does) and his field of vision is no longer impaired...It just corrected itself...Possibly this will happen for you too...I wish you well...Take care..

I was just diagnosed with a scar on the retina in my right eye leaving me with loss of central vision in that eye. Same symptoms as you. I, however, did not injur my eye prior to the onset of my symptoms. I went to the ER, saw 2 optometrists and a retinal specialist. The specialist said there is nothing that can be done to improve the vision loss, but to go to the optometrist immediately if the spot gets any bigger. This can be a sign of bleeding around the scar which they can fix with laser surgery if it's caught early. If you haven't already, I'd recommend that you see a retinal specialist about your scar as soon as possible.

Not really good news, but I hope it helps.

Retinal scarring
I too was shot in the right eye at age 10 and am now 47. I have 20/200 vision in that eye and 20/10 in my left. I have always been told it was retinal scarring and wasnt treatable. I havent had any problems with they eye since. I keep hoping there will be a breakthrough treatment but havent found anything yet.
