Scalp and skull indentation (Page 3)

April 3rd, 2013
I found a dent in the middle.of.my.scalp and the doctor said because three was no pain and no symptoms it's probably because of sleeping on my back for too long as an infant which caused my skull to go a bit flat and cause a depression in the middle of my head/ My skull is irregular in other words xD
There's no need for any concern she said though and not much I could do about that

indents, skull
I am 13 years old, I have two of these indents and they seem to get bigger towards the centre of my head (between eyebrows). I have not had any past problems but I have noticed them getting bigger quickly, any ideas? They are both almost touching and on either side of the middle of my head. I used to have a middle parting but its now a side parting. I have never noticed it before, and my mum can feel it too when i get her to run her finger along it. I am too scared to go doctors, I will only go if its serious. Any one?

indent in skull
Im a 27yo female from Australia & i first noticed a dent when i was 19 right near the crown middle of my head. It has gotten worse over the last 9 years. I had thryoid cancer at 21 and had it all removed so am now on thyroid meds as well as calcium & vit d supps for the rest of my life. I noticed it had gotten slightly bigger 2 years later and showed my mum who freaked out & said go to a doctor. So i went to a doctor about the dent when i was 23 she laughed at me and told me there was nothing there and i was imagining it but whatever it is i mustve been born with it & not noticed. Now im too embarrassed to even go back to any doctor about it. So for the last 4 years i have constantly stressed about it & the last year has considerably got bigger and in particularly the last few months i have suffered with an intense pressure like feeling in my head. I have faint spells when i get up, feel dizzy a majority of the day, most of the time i just dont feel like in my head i am here. I am light sensitive cannot go outside without glasses on. I am shortsighted but this has not got worse in 3 years except for night myopia. i have intense headaches that do not go away, my head hurts around the area like ive had a ponytail up to tight for way to long when i havnt. I have really long hair, i stopped dying it 4 months ago but had been dying my hair since i was 13yo. I have always had an oily itchy scalp so shampoo every day. i am constantly running my hands over it and its all i can think about. I dont work, i have 2 kids 9 & 4. I cant put pressure on it, when i sleep i have to make sure nothing touches my head, i cannot bend over and lower my head without a feeling like all pressure is rising to the front and cannot jump up and down for the same feeling. I have been getting very forgetful the last 6 months, i can be goign to go get something, get there and forget what i was meant to be doing. The ridges on the sides with depression in the centre is now the size in length of 5 fingers running front to back and in width 3 fingers. I am almost convinced it is some sort of brain tumour or clot. i had an mri & eeg before i discovered the dent for another reason and nothing showed then. I have unexplained back pain & joint problems which i have every specialist under the sun for and no one can give me a reason or anything for. i have hand tremors when concentrating, i have to wonder if it all connected. i have been on another forum with hundreds of people with the same symptoms but no one has found a doctor that knows what it is or cares to find out. very strange. I already take a max amount of vit supps & drink lots of water and none of that helps btw.

Hi, I have experience these dent's and have since found a few more. I went to the GP and he said he had never seen anything like this in all his career and he has been my G.P for over 30 years. I was referred for an x-ray which they refused to do and referred me for an ultra scan, which also showed inconclusive, I am now waiting on a date for a CT scan this month at some point. Like you I feel that no one is taking this serious. since finding the first dent I have found a few more and becoming increasingly worried as I forget things and also take excruciating headaches, I also feel as if when I move my neck it is going to snap. I will update the outcome of my CT scan. Thanks for reading this.

Convinced my sinuses are related to dent in head
I am going to tell my story. I first noticed a dent in my head almost a year ago. It is about an inch and a half above my right ear, but towards the rear corner of my skull, about 2 to 3 inches behind my ear. When I first noticed it, I was going through some tough times which made my diet not the healthiest, and I did have a sinus infection that was pretty bad during the same time. I still suffer from sinus issues (yes, almost a year later), and I have been a fairly healthy individual most of my life, and have never experienced anything major health issues, especially with my sinuses and my head. Still to this day having sinus issues, makes it really hard to doubt it has a connection. I am beginning to think I have some sort of fungal infection that is causing my sinuses to "dry up" and affect the shape of my scalp or skull, possibly even scalp ringworm to have caused the dent. I have always been proud of my clear sense of smell and being able to sleep through my nose at night, but for the past year, I have gotten so used to sinus issues I can't believe it didn't make sense earlier. I too have seen several doctors, and am very tired of the "maybe you never noticed it" bit, when the dent is right where my little raskals alfalfa bedhead is.. I push on my head in that area every morning to fix my hair that sticks up from sleeping, I know what my skull should feel like.
When I first felt the dent coming in, It was painful at times, and me messing with it, pushing on the soft areas (or atleast it felt like) just made it worse. I did get Xrays done on my skull and they said everything looked fine. My doc said there is no direct explanation, so it shouldn't be a problem... well, it's a problem when the dent in your head makes you worry and it isn't exactly painless... It used to itch really bad when it first came in and I even noticed a small pimple-like pustule on the rim of my dent about 2 or 3 times now (makes me think scalp ringworm). About 2 weeks ago my right ear started ringing, and I am positive it has to do with the dent, as it has gotten deeper since then also, with mild tingling or pain every once in a great while. I would also like to say around the same time I noticed the dent, I also got a case of ringworm that took a while to get rid of, and I still have small cases of ringworm on my arms every once in a while... at this point I'm convinced it's because it's in my blood, and I never fully got rid of it. I also noticed my dent was itching when it first happened, and after trying literally everything, I even thought about parasites. I took the brand paraherbs for about a week, and the first day I took it, about 2 months after first noticing the dent, my dent had a very creepy burning sensation, as if the paraherbs were killing whatever caused the dent, I'm thinking some kind of fungus that evolved from the ringworm or the ringworm itself... I have spent way too much time investigating this stupid ailment that seems to affect a lot of us, yet all the doctors shrug it off as some unexplainable phenomenon. I have never really had allergies and sinus issues ever before this happened. I just keep searching and searching, and after throwing myself in a loop again and again, I keep coming back CONVINCED it is related to my sinuses, fungal or not, especially since now my right ear keeps ringing... I'm about to just tell my doctor to give me an oral antifungal, regardless of their stupid opinions... what's the worse that could happen? PS, whenever I drink alcohol, even small amounts, the dent tends to get deeper and somewhat sensitive - again, convincing me something is going on with a fungus or yeast issue.
I live in Arizona, so it is very hot here most of the year, and I do notice hydration plays a role in how deep or wide the dent is, but it never fully goes away. I am now noticing the right side of my forehead above my right eye is slowly starting to sink in also, it just doesn't look very noticeable because of my forehead lines and it isn't near as deep as the one in the rear. Also, when all of these sinus related problems came upon me, I was hanging out with a friend whom I'm convinced gave me the ringworm and sinus issues... he always has sinus issues and always spraying antifungal stuff everywhere for his athletes foot and now i'm positive his "dry skin" was the darn ringworm... My friend doesn't have the best hygiene, but I like to think I am a pretty clean person... he has moved far away so reinfecting myself is out of the question, unless I keep reinfecting everyone around me and harboring this nastiness. I've written in another forum somewhere in the past about my journey with this dented head of mine, and while it occurred to me then that my sinuses were out of whack, it has been too long for my sinuses to be this messed up, and that derned friend of mine has permanent sinus problems... I can just tell, and the hunch I have about it being fungal for me is so strong I can't deny it, even when some educated white coat says it ain't so. ..I'm going to try sinus treatments and stuff with an antifungal now. If I start to see results or anything I will come back here and let people know. I don't know if it's exactly related to the types of dents everybody is experiencing, but either way it seems most of these aren't really bone issues, but scalp issues. I felt compelled to come on here and post because I know how horrible it is to be confused on something so mysterious in such a technological age. I had just read another forum somewhere that an older woman had been experiencing the EXACT symptoms I have been; Painful dent in head/skull or scalp, ringing in the ear or ears, and sinus issues on the same side as the dent. I have all of these, and it strikes me as no coincidence that I sleep on my right side somewhere around 80% of the time, and the right side is where I am constantly experiencing sinus issues, my right ear rings non-stop for weeks now, the dents are on my right side of the skull, my right eye is almost always slightly bloodshot, and even right now as it's getting late my right nostril is getting harder to breathe out of, just like every other night. I have even been getting "eye-floaties" in my right eye recently, and I can't emphasize enough how healthy I have been most of my life, hardly EVER experiencing any of these issues, and NEVER experiencing such bad sinus issues, I have even noticed it affecting my sleep now. Since I first noticed the tinnitus in my ear, I have noticed my inside ear itching a lot, and in the shower the other day the inside of my ear felt rough and dry even when wet compared to my left ear... which again, brings me to the fungus, because I still get small ringworm patches on my arms every once in a while and I take them out with lotramin cream for athletes foot and jock itch (fungal infections)... I believe I'm just straight-up infected with fungus that is slowly hurting me and I never got rid of it, so I'm going antifungal like crazy from here on out... anybody with the same or close symptoms to mine should really look into treating fungal infections, or if anybody has ever gotten over ANYTHING similar to mine, please don't hesitate to post... sorry for the long post, i just hope I help at least one person gain insight on their health.
Stats: Male, age 26, 6'1" 140lbs, no other health issues other than posted.

My 3 year old has a massive crater/indent on the top/crown of his head. It runs along the top of his head. Roughly 4 inches long and 1/2 inch deep.
I brought this up to his pediatrician around 2 years old. His reply was- well his head is growing so it must be just the way his head is shaped... O.o
He has eczema and he also has something similar to Poland syndrome going on. He has no muscle/development in his right chest. X-rays show his skeletal frame is fine.
He has never complained of pain and its only noticeable when his hair is short.

Thinking I might bring the head indent up to his new pediatrician and see what she says.

I found one yesterday, right side of middle, I part my hair on the left, got my hair dyed on Saturday, day before yesterday, but today it's gone. Recently, week ago started a statin drug and the only other thing I see on here that my be close related is I've been diagnosed with Occular Hypertension. I work for a dentist, will ask him tomorrow and one of my coworkers is a barber so will ask her too! I have a perfect bite so not worried about the jaw issue.
Let you know what they tell me!

Indent in Scalp
I just noticed an indent to the left of my part about 2-3 inches long, no pain - no injury, it just showed up tonight. I am female, 53, take bioidenticals, ranitidine and they sprayed for mosquitos (west nile) a lot this summer... just saying see if any similarities pop up ~ Linda

skull indentation
Ive finally decided to google this. Ive grown up thinking this is normal. Mine starts at my left eye, travels to the middle of my forehead, where it y's off into two different directions. The left side of my scalp 2 which I loose track of, and the right side which is where my hair parts, and the indentation keeps going to the crown where I have a colic and a large bump. Ive never had a any head injuries

Has anyone on here found an answer? I would also be interested in hearing from people who posted awhile ago and see how they are doing now. I know I am not crazy, this has not always been here. I first noticed my indentation about 1-2 months ago when I was checking a sore on my scalp. Mine is to the right of center about 1 1/2 inches long and a 1/2 inch wide. I am a 55 year old female.

I have developed a crease down the middle of the baack of my head. It has gotten larger. It aches when I touch it and I tend to get headache now in that area. I am 76 years old and am on medications for lung damage. I wonder if they could be causing the problem.

I was given a medication called Clobetasol 0.05% even though I have no inflammation or pain. My first ridge is about six months old and the other one is about 2weeks old. They are located just right of center at the front of my scalp. dr. Measured the largest one at 4x2 cm. When you search the web use the word scalp and not head, you will get more information. I was referred to a dermatologist.

Round Indentation on the back of my head.
I am so glad I found this forum. I have an indentation on the BACK of my head that I just discovered last week...It's behind and below my right ear...near the base of my skull. It's ROUND and about 1/4 inch deep. It hurts when you press on it. I have been suffering from migraines for years and thought it was a pinched nerve in my neck. Does anyone else have a ROUND indentation on the back of their head?

skull dents
I found a dent on the side of my head today too. Since brain tumors are common in my family I became greatly concerned. Reading all the posts gave me no answers. Then it hit me. I wear reading glasses and always put them on my head. Also sunglasses in the summer-same thing. So..come to find out I have identical dents on each side of my mid head....and the nose pieces of the glasses fit in quite perfectly. This may not be common for everyone but I am greatly relieved.
