Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Duphaston is a medication which contains dydrogesterone, a synthetic hormone similar to the naturally occurring sex hormone in your body, progesterone. It is used in treatment for a wide range of menstrual disorders that are thought to result from a lack of progesterone in the body. As it helps in regulating the healthy growth and normal shedding of the womb lining, it may be used in the treatment of menstrual disorders such as absent, irregular or painful menstrual periods, infertility, premenstrual syndrome and endometriosis. By maintaining the womb lining, it is also useful in helping to prevent miscarriage (spontaneous abortion) especially in women who have suffered repeated miscarriages or who may miscarry. There are no known harmful effects when this medicine is used during pregnancy. It can be used for management of abdominal pain and bleeding during pregnancy (threatened miscarriage) or for history of previous miscarriages (habitual abortion). If your gynecologist has prescribed it, it may be to prevent chances of miscarriage. Continue to be in regular follow-up and monitoring of your treating gynecologist/obstetrician and report any unusual/abnormal/new symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet.
Take care.
