Trying to reduce or eliminate stress from your life on your own is a good indication that you want to take charge of your life. But you may not be successful each time, as you may not know th origin of the stress in some cases.

We get disturbed not due to the stressful events in our lives, but due to the beliefs we carry within us, about the events. It is the interpretation of the events that may not be rational quite often.

It would be helpful to you if you can consult a psychotherapist for this purpose. You will be able to find out your inner beliefs and conflicts, through the process of psychotherapy. Research also suggests that short term anti-anxiety drugs with psychotherapy can be extremely beneficial.
