Recurring round group of heads ( water ? ) filled ranging from the size of a nickel to half dollar just 1 at a time. .only on butt cheeks. Never past waist. Never on legs. Very itchy. Trying not to scratch, I have squeezed hard to break the heads and put alcohol on to burn out the itch when I was younger. .I started getting them when I was about 20 years old. Still get one about every other month ... I am 64 now

Acne and Skin Disorders Answer A62422
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

In a case of recurrent staphylococcal infections in the form of boils, Diabetes mellitus should be ruled out. Fasting blood sugar and HBA1C levels should be done. Regarding prophylaxis decolonization should be initiated by using mupirocin and chlorhexidine soaps of both these. Out of the 30 days of the month at least 5 days of mupirocin suppression therapy should be done. Proper hygiene should be maintained. Despite these measures some people may have recurrences. These are idiopathic and exact cause for their recurrence isn't known and may require suppression with doxycycline and rifampicin systemically. Local therapy with kaolin poultice is also helpful in managing the boils.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
