Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum!

A lump on the tongue can be caused by allergic reactions to certain food items (possibility of celiac disease, lactose intolerance and Crohn’s disease should e looked into), oral herpes simplex virus infection, canker sores, tuberculosis, bacterial infections, early-stage syphilis or autoimmune diseases.

It can also be fungal infection, acid burn due to gastric reflux and abscess. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining the lump. Consult your PCP or an oro-laryngologist (mouth and throat doctor) or even a dermatologist to rule out the other conditions. Diagnosis is possible only by clinical examination and exclusion of the causes one by one. Hope this helps. Take care!
