read Genital warts have pain, lesions, before, then scab

User Profile
I live in a warm climate. Traveled to cold climate for two weeks. After a day or so with lots of walking, I saw a rash at the base of the shaft and a couple small scabs on my penis. Thought it was a rash from travel rubbing and maybe from masterbation on top of that. No pain, a little itching, but really did not even know it was there. Lasted during my entire trip. Did not think anything about it. Got back home and after 24 hours, it began to go away. Now, fourth day back in warm home country and pretty much all gone. I was worried so I Googled it, and all you read is Genital warts. I am very worried. I have been sleeping with a girl 10x over 7 months. Unprotected but she says she has nothing. I read Genital warts seems to have pain, lesions, before and then scab. But internet is freaking me out. As of today, only have little rash (very small) and small spots where scabs were. Itch a little like any post scab/rash would. Just looking to see if it can be anything else?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. These are not warts as those don't self resolve in a week. Fordyce spots and poor hygiene secondary to masturbation etc are the commonest causes. Dont pop, poke or pick these lesions and maintain a good toilet and coital habits profile.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
