Hello,

I had CT surgery in Apr 08 in my left dominant hand and it appears as of last month, the tingling/numbness sensation has returned in the same index/thumb and now ring fingers. After the surgery and with therapy the index/thumb felt fine. I did have CTS about 3 yrs prior to the surgery. Is it common for the symptoms to reappear so soon? I am seeing my hand specialist on a regular basis. SHould I request for him to do nerve conduction studies again? Thanx for any advice/suggestions anyone has. As of now I am doing light driving & deliveries in Atl instead of all the admin type work that eventually led to CTS.

Treatment includes resting your hand, splints, pain and anti-inflammatory medicines, and surgery. Have you considered wearing wrist or palm supports? Are you interested in participating in clinical trials for carpal tunnel syndrome?

You're very welcome. Check out that link in the post above. Basically, you get in touch with the researchers (usually from a university) and then volunteer. Sometimes, you'll be restricted by location and distance to the testing center or hospital. Most all clinical trials are regulated, however, and the results are reported to the government. But learn as much as possible about the trial before volunteering! Good luck and please let me know how it goes.
