Psychological Effects from Concussion

My boyfriend has had multiple concussions in the last 5 years. As a result he suffers from chronic migraines and psychological issues. With a recent concussion that happened about a month ago, he suffers from extreme anxiety, irritability, aggression, mood swings, paranoia, violence and self destructiveness. It is difficult for him to be alone or trust me when I am away so he has become controlling of me and needs me around 24/7. His intensity and volatility controls me if ever I speak up or act against his wishes. He talks about urges to hit himself and I fear that it would worsen his condition as he has hit himself in the head before. He has downed alcohol and medication together and punched walls and broken multiple laptops. He talks about CTE and the movie Concussion and says he relates to the athletes or fears that he has that and that he may one day kill himself as a result. I dont know what I can do to help him heal from this as I cannot live like this. I am hoping that he will heal from this and he will be back to normal and I will get my life back as this has happened in the past with the previous concussions. It is a reoccurring cycle everytime he gets a new concussion but this time is the worst. In the meantime, I dont know what I can do to help him in his recovery.

Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Your life should not be controlled by others. He is sick. Sympathy and empathy is good but letting others control is not wise. Get him to a psychotherapist and let them help with emotions and anger issues. Mood stabalizers can be prescribed.

I hope it helps. Please consult your doctor as our advice is just for education purpose only.
