5 prescriptions are causing confusion, disorientation....?

User Profile
My mother has had high blood pressure for years and switched primary physicians earlier this year. Her new doc has given her 5 prescriptions (I do not have the names or dosages)to help control and she is experiencing confusion, somewhat slurred speech, is disoriented and sleeps constantly. She had another visit with the doc and had 2 medications switched but still takes 5 scripts and still experiences the same symptoms. Her doc doesn't seem to have any concerns regarding her reactions. Is this normal?

Hello,

Welcome to ehealthforum

The symptoms which she has been experiencing as confusion, slurred speech and disorientation is definitely not normal.Either she is having the side effect or her BP is still not under control. It is a common practice to give combination medications for controlling BP but five medicines are still on the higher side considering her age also.
Kindly monitor her BP every 3 to 4 hours and consider visiting another Physician or a Specialist for evaluation.Uncontrolled BP can cause various other issues as heart problems, stroke etc.

Take Care!
