Pregnant ? Irregular periods (Page 1)

I just wanted to say thank you in advance, I've come here for advice because I witnessed a lot of good advice here.

My last period was on July 21, 2008. My periods run anywhere from 28-32 day cycles (have had 32 day cycles since taking Plan B in June 08 due to an accident I had then and this month I'm 9 days late so far) My periods also have been very messed up since I turned 21 in Nov of 07. A week after turning 21, I was a week late, and have been late three times since and have gotten more then one period a month a few months after turning 21 also. i don't know if my hormones are chaging or what, but it's driving me crazy!

I had unprotected sex (withdrawl method - I know it's not a "method" and very stupid and risky! but he did pull out awhile before he actually ejaculated) on Aug 9th and 10th

I was supposed to get my period between August 18th - 22 (based on a 28 - 32 day cycle) and it still had not arrived and it's the 27th now!

I am really stressed out and have been the past 9 days about possibly being pregnant and was extremely stressed out in the beginning of the month for about 2 weeks straight! I was also sick in the beginning of the month and had a cold again from the 22 to the 25th! I know all these things could delay my period, and I'm very scared.

I have my typical PMS symptoms currently (have had them for about the past 5-7 days) which are breast pain (the sides, near my arm pits), breaking out, anxiety, and cervical pain (before my period starts I sometimes get sharp cervical pain 1-2x a day) but haven't gotten it yet!

I am not really having any pregnancy symptoms. No cravings, not urinating more then unusual, and I'm not really more tired then usual (go to bed at 2am and get up around 930am to 10am), I just don't know what's up!

I know the logical answer is to take a pregnancy test, but I'm so scared I cannot bring myself to just do that yet. I know I had made a mistake by having unprotected sex and using withdrawl so please do not critisize me or tell me to go take a pregnancy test because I do allready know, I just would like to know my chances!

thanks to everyone!

Any time you have unprotected sex, you run the risk of becoming pregnant.
There's always a chance, even with "withdrawal."
Pre-cum can get you pregnant.

With that being said, the only thing you can do is wait it out for a few more days, or suck it up and get a pregnancy test.

It's nearly impossible to say exactly what your chances are. During the time of ovulation, an egg is available to be fertilized for only about 12-24 hours. But since sperm can live in the body for 3-5 days and then the egg is available for one day, your most fertile time is considered to be about 5-7 days.
It's almost impossible to say exactly when you ovulated because a) it's nearly impossible to tell on a regular cycle, and b) you have an irregular cycle.

Right now, you are 5 days late. If I were in your situation, I would try to relax, as stress can cause further delay of your period. After a few more days (maybe 5 days at the most), I would go get a pregnancy test.

yes! the stress levels are absolutely horrible. the way my period has been the past three months from taking plan b is definately not worth it at all!!! ive also been stressed alll this month because my boyfriend was in the hospital then i was in the hospital for a migraine! it's just been a bad month for me. although i am 21 and my boyfriend is 25 i can't take care of a baby financially or mentally right now and i wish i just never would of made the mistake i made!

the only symptom i'm feeling that could also be associated with pregnancy would be breast pain, but my breats ALWAYS hurt before every period (my lymphs swell in my armpits and cause me breast pain), i'm not more tired then usual (in fact i'm sleeping less, going to bed between 2am and 4am and waking up between 9am and 10am with difficulting staying asleep!) and i'm not constipated or nauseaos or anything! i know everyone is different but i'm just trying to tell myself i'm not so my period will come!

i know it's hard to do hun, i just worry ALL the time and having unprotected sex using the withdrawl method was not smart at all of me! it happened to me in june also and i got plan b but it made me really SICK and I decided this time I couldn't afford to be sick (now i'm wishing i woulda took the chance!) and its screwed up my periods since!

having sex also messes up your period. especially if it;s the first couple times!

it really made you sick i was about to go get some after my intercourse but im too young to get it without a perscription. but you think its possible like when he turns 18 he could get it for me, idk if thats possible but for me getting sick wud prob be better than worrying non stop.

it made me feel absolutely HORRIBLE! and it wasn't the first time I took it either, I probably took it about 6 times before also (because I worry too much!) and it's only made me sick 2 times!

It's a very high dose of hormones for your body. It gave me the worst headache in the world (i get migraines a lot, but this was bad), it made me dizzy and I had nausea and a fever for about 5 days, it was the worse!

I live in PA and I know anyone over the age of 17 can get Plan B at local pharmacies. I think only females can get it, but I'm not 100% positive.

At 15, you should be able to go to Planned Parenthood and get it! (I did when I was 15) and if you only had sex 3 days ago, you could always go tommorow to get it! It's peak effectiveness is within 72 hours of intercourse, but it has also been proven to work within 120 hours (5 days) of intercourse!

if you are under 18 at planned parenthood, there services are usually free!

if you need help finding a planned parenthood in your area, just go to google and type in where you live + planned parenthood! they can also help you get on a more reliable form of birth control for free and give you free exams and pregnancy testing!

if you obtain plan b from pharmacies it's between $40-$55 i paid $50 for it i believe, which is very costly!

that is very true, AND I know your said that you had sex on your period unprotected and were not worried about it, but nothing is 100%! If you feel as if you may be tempted for sex, it's sometimes better to be safe then sorry!

Hey girls,
I just wanted to offer some of my experience to you all-stressing so badly over something that could be nothing.
A) Stress WILL delay your period.
B) If the thought of being pregnant is in your mind, you will start experiencing what you believe are pregnancy symptoms.
C) You wouldn't actually experience any pregnancy symptoms until you are 5 or so weeks pregnant.
D) Abstaining from sex may be the only truly safe way to prevent pregnancy, BUT temptation is always there and temptations are hard to resist sometimes.
E) Planned parenthood can generally help with the after pill, most of the time it's free. They can also give you free pregnancy test, free (or very cheap) birth control pills, free condoms, and VERY good advice.

I know that the two of you feel you have made a huge mistake, but look at it this way. Every woman goes through this at some point. As long as you learn from your mistakes, that's what makes you an intelligent woman.
Either way, the two of you have plenty of options available to you.
FYI-it IS possible to become pregnant if you had unprotected sex while on your period. The chances are very low, but it is possible.
Kristen, you are giving very good advice and I'm so glad to see that you know what to do in the future and are helping others to make the same good choices.

Just remember, you're never alone, there are always people experiencing the same problems, sometimes they are far worse than your own.

Good luck!
