Pregnancy after stopping pill ?

My boyfriend and I have discussed having a baby and decided that we want to have one within the next two years or so. I have been on birth control since I was 18. I was on the patch for one year, and now I have been on the pill since I was 19 and I'm now 25. We're not specifically trying to get pregnant, but I want to go off the pill and just see what happens. I was curious as to how long it might take for me to become pregnant, having been on birth control for seven years. I read some websites that said on average it can take only 3 months, but I've also heard it taking years. I know that every person is different. I'm actually kind of irresponsible with taking my pills; some times I miss two or three a month and nothing had ever happened, no pregnancies or miscarriages. Has anyone gone off the pill and can you tell me how long it took you? Thanks.

Hi Honekaur,

Some women get pregnant while on the pill some get pregnant shortly after going off the pill, some get pregnant weeks, months, even years later. If you really want to get pregnant, start treating your body as though you are. Start taking prenatal vitamins, eating healthy, don't drink or smoke, get plenty of exercise, practice, practice, practice. It will happen. If you aren't pregnant in 3 to 6 months, have a complete physical, you and your boyfriend, to rule out if there is a low sperm count or any physical problems.

Good Luck,

Faded Rose
