Hi, I am currently 37 weeks pregnant with my third child and am planning on having a postpartum tubal after the birth. I was wondering about the experience other women have had with this procedure; how painful was it? were you given any medications? how long was recovery? how long after the birth was the procedure done? Any info would be most appreciated. thank you,
Leia

Tubal Ligation
Hi Leila,

I had a tubal within 24 hours of vaginaly delivering my last child 8 years ago and from day one up until today have had no problems whatsoever. I was put under general anesthesia and woke up within 30 minutes after being put under to find the procedure was complete! I felt no pain, disconfort, or otherwise....all I had to show for the surgery was a little "plastic bandaid type" to cover my one stitch right below my belly button, which the incision itself is tiny, as a matter of fact it is virtualy invisible now. I went on to care for baby that same morning of the tubal procedure and was dicharged from hospital that afternoon!
