User Profile
Dear Doctor,
since the beginning of my periods in 2002 my mensuration cycle was always of 30-35 days but periods lasted for atleast 3.5 days.
from 2006 my periods days have been decreasing... i got married in 2011 since then my periods last only for two days. from last month my period are lasting for 1.5 day only and blood flow is good for 1 day other is very scanty. (my grandmother and aunt had 2. to 3 days period only but a good flow they said)
my gynac took my blood samples for serum prolactin and thyroid simulating hormones taste and report tells they are in range. what could be a possible cause of my scanty period? what more tests should i go for? she said i have pcos (as per her sonography machine, i do not have any report for it) for which i have gone for natural cure by changing my diet and being happy n stress free. could this affect my conceiving ability?I go restless with thoughts. Please help.

Menstruation Answer A41077
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
As long as you have regular periods and have not missed periods, it can be considered as normal. Usually ovulatory menstrual cycles are associated with short and light periods than anovulatory cycles. If worried, you may consider taking second opinion from another gynecologist and go ahead with getting complete hormonal analysis done along with ultrasound scan to look for the underlying cause/rule out any pathological cause. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Incorporate exercises in daily routine and maintain healthy diet.
Take care.
