What exactly is a small pocket of free pelvic fluid? I went for an ultrasound to determine weather i had polycystic ovaries- which i do but my doctor also said as well as that i had a pocket of free pelvic fluid too. she didnt explain very well what it was and im starting to panic..

Hi there, thank you for posting your question. My answer is not intended as a substitute to visiting your own doctor but I hope I can be of some little help.

Free fluid in the pelvis is a normal ultrasound finding occurring in about 30% of all women of child-bearing years. It may not be related to your poly-cystic ovarian disease at all and should not worry you unduely.
