Placebo pills and withdrawal bleeding

I've been on Loestrin 24 Fe for the past 8 months. My new doctor decided to switch me to Aviane because it's less expensive. I'm somewhat concerned because Loestrin 24 Fe has four active pills and only 4 placebo pills, on which I have bleeding for 4-5 days. Aviane has 21 active pills and 7 placebo pills. Does that mean I will have my period for 7 days? Do the number of placebo pills correlate with days of bleeding?

darknessfalls, You will not know until you try it for a few cycles. There is nothing that say you have to bleed every single day of the inactive week. Many women will not start on day 1 and end on day 7. It is however not possible to predict how you will react.

Unfortunately there are no generics available for Loestrin 24 as it is still too new and protected.

Best of luck!
