Pinching and mild chest discomfort sometimes left sometimes righ

I wonder if anyone has ever experienced mild discomfort in their chest. Around my menstrual period but now I noticed it to be off and on after. I get this pinching feeling underneath my left breast. Probably can go unnoticed however, I suffer with anxiety and I monitor every symptom. I went to my doctor and she told me it was normal to feel this around my cycle. I've never experienced this before. Sometimes I feel pressure. I noticed that the symptoms alternate from the left to the right. My doc believes It's just my anxiety she listened to my heart and says it sounds perfectly healthy and my EKG's showed to be normal. I am pushing 40 years old. Can anyone shed some light? Can stress cause this or some underlying heart condition? Maybe I'm just going through the motions because I'm getting older. I have an appointment with cardiology soon, I pushed my doc for the referral although she says in her medical opinion I don't need it, but she could be wrong she is not a specialist. If all is well I will feel 100% better, this is on my mind day and night.
