my son,5, had phimosis and the doctor suggested circumsision. After the op, the head of the penis was covered in white stuff, this is now drying. I am using betadine on his stitches. It is now the 9th day since the op, and it hurts after he pees. How long does this take to heal and when does one stop using the betadine. Is it supposed to be moist or dry, bearing in mind it was not a normal circumsision due to the phimosis. This is all new to me, and your help will be appreciated.

Hello and thank you for posting your medical question on E health forum.

Usually post circumcision , there will be some collection of secretions and exudates which are normal during the healing process.

But if the secretions appear to be purulent and the child has discomfort or pain while urinating , this could indicate a urinary infection.

You might consider seeking a opinion of the treating surgeon for an examination, and proper treatment.

I hope this helps.
