Pharmacy switched birth control pill brands!

Hi Ladies! I am new to the forums and would love any help I can get! In short here is what is going on... I am on the pill and I did not get my period last month when I was supposed to so I continued on like I normally would (as if I had gotten it). I took a pregnancy test (negative) and 1 1/2 weeks into my pack, I started my cycle. So I have been on my cycle for 2+ weeks and it has been almost unbearable! Very bad cramps, pain, extremely extremely swollen and very bad mood swings. I called my doc and she is out and the doc filling in said to skip my sugar pills and go right into taking my hormone pills on my next pack (so never stopping the hormone pills). The big question is that my pharmacy switched wholesalers and put me on a new brand, even though they claim it is the same....I feel that it is DEFINITELY not the same!! Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Also, any ideas on how to cope with all the terrible symptoms I am experiencing??

Thank you soo soo much!

Just because the pharmacy switched suppliers doesnt mean the pill is different. They are not allowed to give you something that isn't the same dosage as what you are on even if the brand is a different name.

I would suggest you follow the advice the doctor has given you. If you find that you can't cope with the bleeding anymore, then it might be worth seeing your doctor to see if there is anything she can give you to stop the bleeding.

Thank you for your response! The doctor is the one who told me to try and track down a pharmacy with the old prescription. She stated that although they may claim they are the same, that can be untrue. The pharmacy didn't even tell me, I picked it up and had to return the next day to ask why it was different.
