PET scan results ?

User Profile
I was recently diagnoses with Multiple Myeloma and I had a PET/CT scan which stated: "There is hypermetabolic activity seen within the bowel loops in the pelvis. No suspicious mass is identified. Hypermetabolic activity is also associated with the patient's right hip prosthesis." What does this mean in simple English terms?????

Thanks for using this forum....

The scan means that that the pelvic bone and your right hip have some increase cell dividing activity...In the prosthesis it might be due to some inflammation but betwee the loops there is some cellular activity in the bones more than normal..Ithink you go ahead and observe it as there is no definitive sign of myeloma in the bones being scanned and you can get it repeated some 6-12 months later...

take care...
