period while pregnant? all symptoms?

User Profile
Hi Im just confused, I have recently moved to the US at the start of December for an internship. I am 21 female, and have been feeling quite sick since I came. Recently (past 2/3 weeks) i have been peeing a lot and especially during the night. My stomach seems extremely bloated. I feel quite light headed when I stand and i have lower back pain. I am on the combined pill and have had my periods as normal. What could be wrong? Any advice is appreciated

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The symptoms that you describe (feeling sick, frequent urination, bloating, lightheadedness, low back pain) could indicate pregnancy possibility (possible due to chances of contraceptive failure). Do not ignore your symptoms. Wait and watch for your periods/withdrawal bleeding. Look out for development of any other new symptoms. If periods have not started within 7 days of taking the last active pill, and if you suspect chances of pregnancy, you should consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). Stop the hormonal contraceptive use if you suspect pregnancy chances, or if pregnancy gets confirmed.
Take care.
