peeling fingers and toes
Check Scarlet Fever, if your child has had strept within the past few months, they could have developed scarlet fever and a symptom of scarlet fever is peeling of fingers, toes, and palms of hands. A dose of antibotices is recomended.Just research Scarlet Fever.

My 3 year old daughter has just developed the peeling skin on her fingers and toes and last week had hand foot and mouth disease. Can anyone let me know what this meant? I have just googled Scarlet Fever and that is not what she has, the illness was text book HFM. Would love to know what to do with peeling skin and how long it lasts. Other daughter and myself have just got over HFM this week and expect the peeling skin phase next.

I think the HFM issues are different than the symptoms the original poster described. I too suffer from this condition and have for twenty years. It's horrible. It's starts with a tiny red spot or spots,,which then harden layers deep as it gets bigger, then finally the layers of skin separate and peel from the finger, leaving raw, pink skin beneath. The fingers crack at times, it's painful and embarrassing. Moisturizers don't help. It's not a dry skin issue, it's an internal issue. I'm currently exploring the possibility if vitamin deficiency, zinc deficiency, or even a wheat intolerance. And I'm trying to stay hydrated. 6-8 glasses of water is not enough, it's now recommended that people drink haof their body weight in water per day. My flares used to be infrequent and short. My lates flare has lasted six months. I hope I find the answer because I just want it to go away.

Well I am using flexitol Australian Heel balm and a UV light for the last 10 weeks and my fingertips and heels are almost back to what they were 3 years ago before I suffered badly with dry cracking skin on heels and finger tips where I had to use plasters on my finger tips and reduced what I could do with my hands.
