paranoid that it could be a pregnancy!

User Profile
My periods, starting about two years ago, have been irregular. It usually come a week late or so. I used to think possible pregnancy but all tests would say negative and the following week my period would show... But now it decided to show a whole week EARLY and in the form of spotting.

my period started to become regular showing up close to the end of the month. Nov 2010 it came the 26th Dec 2010 it came the 22 but in jan 2011 i became ill which through it back a week because of stress so it came the 28th instead of the 19th. On Feb 13,2011 i had unprotected sex and on the 18th had some spotting. It lasted about three days and i never had to use a tampon or pad. Now im paranoid that it could be a pregnancy. Is it too soon to take a test or should i wait to see if another period comes?

Hello and welcome to eHealth forum!

You can take a test now and go preferably for a blood pregnancy test as it is more reliable. If this is negative then consult your gynecologist to find out why you have irregular periods. Various causes are polycystic ovary, thyroid problems, high cholesterol, Cushing’s disease and disorders of adrenal gland, tumors of the ovaries and adrenals, insulin resistance, obesity and hormone imbalance. Hope this helps. Take care!
