pappilary carcinoma...

I am 30 years old unmarried lady with pappilary carcinoma in right thyroid gland and did the surgery removed both glands. after the surgery my docter asked me do throglobuling test it was 4.Now they asked me to do radioactive lodine theropy.Now i am so much worried about this affraid of the sid effects.Docter please tell me if there any side effects ? is it need to do this treatment in my condition?

Normally after removal of thyroid gland there is no detectable thyroglobulin in blood. If this is found it could come from normal thyroid gland or from tumor. Normally a small amount of radioactive iodine is given to burn the remaining thyroid gland or tumor tissue. Hence it is important to take this for treatment. Take care!
