painful urination and lower abdominal pain

My doctor prescribed antibiotics because he thought i had a urinary tract infection. The pills haven't helped much. A friend suggested the problem might be with a mesh from a hernia operation i had a few years ago. Has anyone heard of a problem like mine. It's been bothering me for at least a month. Thanks
Spence

Unfortunately, you did not describe the location and nature of your pain in much detail, so it is difficult to offer you and specific advice. However, it is unlikely that the pain you are experiencing when you urinate is due to an old hernia repair.
