Third Trimester of Pregnancy Answer A47175
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Since you are in third trimester of pregnancy and nearing your due date for delivery, the pressure in your pelvic area increases as the presenting part comes down and engages in the pelvic cavity. Other causes include pressure on the nerve supply due to weight of baby and gravid uterus, pelvic or urinary infections, uterine irritation/contraction due to movement etc. The exact cause can only be made out after careful evaluation. Consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination and evaluation to look for the exact underlying cause and get started on treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and evaluation results) to help you control the symptoms. If infective cause is detected, getting started on antibiotic would help. If uterine contractions are the cause, uterine relaxants would be of help to relax the uterus and carry on pregnancy upto 40 weeks. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
Take care.
