Five days ago, the roof of my mouth was hurting quite a bit. I assumed it was a canker sore and rubbed some orajel on it before bed, along with taking some tylenol. I was good to go. The next day, the spot was more painful and red-- it looked like I had scratched or bitten a chunk of it, which doesn't make any sense because it's on the roof of my mouth. During this time, the left side of my throat started to hurt. The third day, I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with Hand Mouth and Foot Disease and I was given painkillers and a numbing oral rinse. The pain is being managed, but I'm confused. I have no sores on my hands, none on my feet and a few little ones in my mouth. My throat is so painful I can't touch it now, and my pain level in my mouth is an 8/10.

I don't have the best oral health, and I used to smoke, but I've never experienced anything like this and I can't find anything online that makes sense. If anybody knows anything about sores like these or knows how long this will last please let me know. Also, the change in color and size is also confusing. I don't know if it's good or bad that it is so... yellow now.
