Ongoing cramps and late period

User Profile
Im 37 years old and have an 18 yr old son. Me and my husband have been trying for a baby since 8 months now. Also I've been on a lot of stress due to some problem. My period was due on 10th dec but we were travelling and instead it came on the 15th dec. Then in jan my period came on the 14th. But now in Feb its 4 days late. One week before my period due date I had brown discharge which lasted for 2 days, then after that I felt a movement in my abdomen but i thought its just gas. I've now been having period cramps and especially numb pain in the lower right side of my abdomen along with backache, its still there till now. I even did a hpt on 15th Feb with the first pee in the morning and it came out negative. I called up my GP and he said its normal and its just period cramps.....but where's my period, I'm always regular and use to have period cramps before getting my period but it never last this long, it usually pains only one day, but now its been 4 days and the cramps have not gone.

Am I Pregnant Answer A10103
Hello,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. Your concern is regarding the lower abdominal cramps that you are having. There can be many reasons for such cramps. It can be due to inflammatory bowel disease, bowel obstruction, ovarian cysts and pelvic inflammatory disease, irritable bowel syndrome , kidney obstruction or pyelonephritis, psoas abscess and volvolus (twisting of the sigmoid part of the large bowel on itself). Investigations like ultrasound abdomen, CT abdomen and colonoscopy are required to confirm a diagnosis. My advice is to consult a gastroenterologist and discuss these possibilities with him.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
