one level, artificial cervical disk replacement after ACDF

Is it advisable to break my one-level, C6/C7 ACDF in order to implant the Prestige artificial disk?
I had the ACDF 1.5 years ago, and I'm very dissatisfied with the results: on-going pain or achiness almost every day, and a weird, periodic, wrong feeling like my head's gonna fall off.

Conventional teaching states that once a fusion has been done, an ADR (artificial disc replacement) cannot be done at that level.

However, new things are always being tried. You may be able to find a spine surgeon that will try it. But, don't get your hopes up too high. You will have to really look, as most spine surgeons will just tell you no, can't be done.

But, if you really want to try, go out and look for a surgeon. It will probably have to be one in a University or research setting, as this would not be considered standard of care, and probably experimental. There may even be a research study out there somewhere trying this.

But, again, don't get your hopes up too high. Good luck.
