Dr. Paul,
I\'ve recently went to the ob/gyn as you suggested. She took urine sample, blood, and did a pap smear. She said she wanted to rule out autoimmune disorders like Lupus. I did inform her of the symptoms I was having also such as dizziness, sore breasts, nipples poking out most of time now, slight nausea with odors and eating, etc,. Im even beginning to hawk spit. What's that all about? I have a spit cup in my car now..lol Well they said I was free to go. I suspect I will hear results some time this week. I am worried. What are your thoughts on this? Ive never stayed in the hospital, no surgeries, no allergies, no disease and rarely get the common cold.. I just don\'t know.

Hi! Many thanks for your question on eHealth forum!

Your symptoms (dizziness, sore breasts, nipples poking out most of time now, slight nausea with odors and eating, etc) could be due to severe acidity. You will need to take a combination of medications like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried.

Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Avoid lying down for least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you.

Other than that liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.

Dizziness can also be due ear problems, vaso vagal attack, pinched cervical spinal nerves, ear problems, anemia, hyper or hypo tension, heart problems etc. Sore breasts and nipple poking out most of the time can be due to electrolyte imbalance and even due to stress. Hormonal imbalance too can cause sore breasts and nausea and hence it is important to get complete hormone profile of TSH, estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH, prolactin and androgens.

A comprehensive investigation is required taking all this into consideration. Some tests you have undergone. Wait for the results. Discuss these possibilities with your treating doctor. Hope this helps. Take care!
