Nuvaring did not work this time?

I on nuvaring for almost a year now, I was always in right days to put it back after ring free but this time I was late for 6 whole days to put it in & I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend those days.
After having it for abit more than a week I started to have pains on my lower belly.
I went to go see my nurse and she told me to take it off for a day to see so I did & put a new one after a day.
I still have little pains & Im having spottings that only shows when I wipe it's been a day now that is like that
& my period supposed to started a week now.

Is it possible To be pregnant? Or is it just an imbalance hormonal?
Anyone went throw this

Just like oral contraceptives, the nuvaring also needs to be used daily, so that the body gets a regular dosage of the hormonal contraceptives.

If there is a delay in insertion, it would cause change in the hormonal balance and such disruption of hormonal rthym can cause symptoms like spotting, cramps, and change in your menstrual cycles.

In most cases, there is no need to worry, as they would subside on their own.

Contraception failure is also possible with improper use , resulting in pregnancy. If you miss your regular periods do a pregnancy test.

If it is negative and eventually you have your periods, remember this episode and keep your next months nuvaring pack in hand well in advance, so that you can use it properly and have proper contraception coverage.

I hope this helps.
