Numbness would most likely be from a pinched nerve. How do you mean go upward?

If you are spending a lot of time on your feet, make sure you are wearing good proper sitting shoes with arch support. If you sit often, take breaks to get up and stretch your legs to improve circulation. The blood in our legs relies on muscle movement to efficiently make it's way back to the heart.
