normal being on the mini pill or I am pregnant?

User Profile
Hi, I am 3 days late with my period. At the start of March I started the mini pill cerazette, 2 weeks ago I forgot to take one of my pills and I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend, then on friday and sat of this week I was feeling sick and forgot to take my pill again and on sunday we had unprotected sex. My period is now 3 days late, I'm very tired and every night I get very sick and feel like I need to throw up, I'm not sure if this is normal with being on the mini pill or if I am pregnant?

Hi
Welcome to ehealthforum,
You are not protected while being on the first pack of birth control pill use. Most of the hormonal contraceptive pills usually start being effective and give you protection after about 3-4 week of regular pill use without missing pills in between. The chances of pregnancy are high in your case as suggested by your symptoms. Look out for development of any other symptom suggestive of early pregnancy. Visit your doctor/gynecologist for examination and blood HCG test to confirm/rule out pregnancy before you start with the next pill pack use. The nausea that you have could also be due to the hormonal content of the pill, bit if it is increasing in intensity and is associated with any other new symptoms, then it could be attributed to pregnancy.
Take care.
