My periods normally regular and last max 7 days?

User Profile
I am 31 and have one 6 yr old. I have reg periods every 28 days. Partner and i awaiting ivf treatment due to low sperm motility caused by prev vasectomy and reversal. (my partner is not my daughters father) I got my period on day 31 this month but only very light brown discharge and it has stayed like this for last 11 days. I am not actually "loosing" blood, however when i wipe i can see fresh blood but nothing ever on pad? Though have only saw this "fresh red" blood on wiping a couple times in the 11 days, the rest has been just brown discharge. Confused. My periods normally regular and last max 7 days. Any advice would be appreciated. Im not on any medication or going through any stressful events.

Menstruation Answer A24732
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Sometimes pregnancy can result even with low sperm counts (afterall it takes 1 healthy sperm to be able to reach the egg and fertilize it) if you are sexually active. The lighter period and spotting that you describe could be suggestive of implantation and pregnancy. Look out for development of any other new symptoms suggestive of early pregnancy. If you are having symptoms suggestive of pregnancy, or if you suspect to be pregnant, visit your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet. Avoid any heavy work. Avoid having intercourse during first trimester. Avoid lifting heavy objects and climbing stairs or standing for long periods.
If pregnancy gets ruled out, hormonal derangements, thyroid hormone issues, ovarian or uterine problems should be ruled out with further investigations. Be in regular follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist.
Take care.
