My mother caught by viral encephalitis

Hi All:

My mother caught by viral encephalitis & her treatment is under progress. She remained on ventilator for 3 days & during that period Doctors were using below medicines.

>> Acyclovir 750Mg (after every 6 hours)
>> Tienam 500Mg (After every 8 hour with Acyclovir)
>> Benzyl Penicillin

Now she is recovering. As per Doctors suggestion, we have to use above mentioned medicines for 14 days. We have done 7 days medication & rest is in progress.

I just want to know that, is there any negative effect of these medicines which may harm the health afterward.

Kind guidance will be appreciated.

Thank you for asking

I read your question and I understand your concern. This is a standard procedure. Every drug has some adverse effects. It's a complete balance of pros and cons and doctor evaluates that. 14 days therapy is standard procedure and benefits out weigh the risks. So do as directed and stop worrying.

I hope it helps. Consult your doctor as our advice is just for education purposes only.

Take care
