Welcome to e health forum.

Without a proper examination, the cause of your symptoms cannot be precisely known. Hence you should consult with your dermatologist, for proper treatment and advice.

It is possible that itching and sticky sensation could be due to production of excess sebum, sweat which is a normal finding. The other issue can be due to a condition like seborrhiec dermatitis.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common, inflammatory skin condition that causes flaky, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas such as the scalp. It can occur with or without reddened skin.

Stress, fatigue, weather extremes, oily skin, infrequent shampoos or skin cleaning, use of lotions that contain alcohol, skin disorders (such as acne), or obesity may increase the risk.

You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Loosen scales with the fingers, scrub for at least 5 minutes, and rinse thoroughly. Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.

Some brands include - Nizoral A-D, Head and shoulders, Denorex , Selsun blue and Neutrogena. To apply shampoos, part the hair into small sections, apply to a small area at a time, and massage into the skin.

Shampoos or lotions containing selenium, ketoconazole, or corticosteroids may be prescribed for severe cases by your dermatologist if needed.
