Welcome to ehealthforum and thanks for writing

Cancer is hereditary and chances of genetic transmission are possible but it also depends which type of cancer was running in the family as breast, colorectal, cervical cancer have more chances of transmission and lung, prostate and esophageal have less risk comparatively.

Along with that multiple other factors as age, sex, lifetsyle factors, diet, exercise, can affect it. Following a healthy lifestyle can prevent it to a great extent.
1)Have a well balanced diet.

2)Exercise regularly.

3)Restrict tobacco and alcohol use.

4)Avoid stress and anxiety.

Take care!
