5 mos. severe Breast pain. Tests show nothing...

User Profile
I'm a seemiingly healthy 28 year old. 7 months ago I noticed when my husband sucked on my nipple I got sharp shooting pain through it. Nearly 5 months ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst pain I have ever had. It felt like a lightning bolt going straight through my right nipple. I went to the ER and was told I had shingles, and to wait for the rash to appear and then return. The pain did not lessen. I was vomiting constantly and could not move. A rash did not develop. The next day I went to my physician and was given a physical exam (physically I looked fine), a chest x-ray and a slew of blood tests.I was also put on a yeast infection medication just in case of thrush. Nothing showed. 3 days later the pain was in both nipples and both breasts. It was excruitating. I was given a gallbladder ultrasound, lyme diease test, mammogram, and thoracic spine xray. Nothing showed. I am on Naproxen and a small dose of Amitriptlyine and still in agony.
I need help.

Welcome to e health forum.

Pain in the nipples and breast is very common which is a result of sexual arousal and caressing. The main cause of pain around the breast is sucking the nipples hard and squeezing it.

Nipples are ultra sensitive and they are rich in sensory nerve endings. Hence sucking the nipples give out pleasurable sensations.

In the same way, if excess of stimuli (biting , squeezing, etc) can result in severe stinging pain, burning, etc.

These are unavoidable however, but it can be reduced by mutual acceptance by lesser force applied while sucking or squeezing the breasts/nipples.
